Shawn Perkins is a founding Pastor at Rise Community Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Prior to starting Rise Community Church, he served as an associate pastor at Grace Covenant Church in Chantilly, Virginia where he led the Men’s Ministry, the Benevolence Ministry, and co-led the Marriage Ministry, in addition to overseeing the Usher Team, the Security Team, and the Pastoral Assistants.
Shawn has a servant’s heart and loves to see God’s people freed from various bondages and strongholds. After a commendable 28-year career as a sworn law enforcement officer, Shawn retired and joined the pastoral team at Grace Covenant Church. As an associate pastor, he has counseled men and couples, helping them overcome the issues that kept them from living a healthy and fulfilled relationship with God and with one another. Called to continue serving the people outside of the walls of the church, Shawn currently serves as a Chaplain for the Horry County Police Department. Shawn is a graduate of York College of Pennsylvania and the Family Bible College in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been married to his wife, Danell Perkins, for 35 years and they have three adult children and two grandsons.

As I continue to grow, I remain open to learning from those around me, knowing that true leadership comes from humility and listening. I’ve seen how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect, and I strive to be a catalyst for that kind of change. Mentorship and discipleship have also become essential parts of my journey, allowing me to pour into others as others have poured into me. I cherish the moments when I can help someone find their voice, step into their purpose, or simply feel seen. Ultimately, my mission is to reflect love in action and bring light into every space I enter.
Pastor Danell Perkins is the lead and founding Pastor of Rise Community Church, Myrtle Beach, S.C. Prior to planting Rise Community Church, she held both associate and executive pastoral positions at Grace Covenant Church in Chantilly. She is trained in Christian Counseling and has helped thousands of men and women in various venues from Women’s Conferences to Adult Detention Centers.
Along with her pastoral role, she operates as well in the prophetic and deliverance ministry and assists in training other various ministries in the prophetic. Pastor Danell is married to Pastor Shawn Perkins who is the Executive Pastor of Rise Community Church, and they have three amazing adult children and two precious grandsons.
